Needing a breath of fresh air, Alicia Connolly transitioned from a successful career as a high-level executive of a multi-national telecom company launching Alicia Connolly Design in 2000 that designed and manufactured home couture textile products. Client demand quickly led to an expansion into interior decorating, combining business and management skills with creativity that ensure each project will progress smoothly, on time, and within budget.
Currently based in New York City, Alicia has acquired an international reputation for her superb work on residential, turnkey and commercial projects ranging from New York, Connecticut, Vermont, Miami, Southern California, Dallas, Cyprus and Malta. Landmark department stores have sought out her work to use as backdrops for fashion shows and receptions for designers such as Ralph Lauren and Valentino.
Alicia’s impeccable sense of style transcends Modern, Classic, Traditional, Transitional, Mediterranean, and Asian styles. She carefully combines key elements of a design language with each client’s needs to create a unique personalized haven. After all, one’s home is an expression of his or her individual style. Alicia’s primary goal is to help each client express that style as beautifully as possible.

You can only use one makeup item before leaving your house. What item do you choose?
LIPGLOSS!!!! An absolute always must have. I wish Dior would bring back those fabulous silver chain bracelets that hold lipgloss.
What is your favorite decade of fashion trends?
As an interior designer it is important to me to be aware of the latest trends. Decorating for my clients, I keep trends in mind but design the house all about them and their lifestyle. Home is a sanctuary and the ultimate expression of their values and taste, which I help them find. This transcends over to fashion for me, I love the classic, casual elegant look with an edge, usually injected with a few of the latest trends that suit my style.
What is one piece of fashion or beauty advice?
Don’t just go for the latest trend but stop and decide if it is a flattering look for you or how you can adapt it to suit your body shape, your lifestyle and is it the look you want to portray to the world around you? I feel that less is more, I would rather have a few fabulous timeless quality key pieces as opposed to a closet filled with a lot of mediocre. Besides, it doesn’t take as much time to decide what to wear or pack!
When do 
you feel the most beautiful?
Besides when wearing a pair of fabulous heels? When I create balance in my life, practice the self-love that so many of us need, slowing down to enjoy, eat healthy, practice yoga and being mindful. I am grateful, yet feel the importance of what’s on the inside is what really counts at the end of the day.
In your opinion, what makes a woman beautiful?
The way she carries herself says a lot. Confidence. Class. Style. Compassion. And sometimes just a great makeup artist and photographer!

Do you have any additional comments or information you would like to share?
I’m a self confessed workaholic with a vocation for making my clients happy. Loath energy saving light bulbs, love to create contrast, obsessed with dimmer switches and feel painting is underrated. Will forgo sleep for the sake of adventure and travel. Want to revisit the limestone workshops in Malta, play my violin at the Acropolis with a pop star and relax on the Amalfi Coast for as long as I can take it. Always strive to keep the glass full.
