What is one piece of fashion or beauty advice?

Make sure you have the basic wardrobe essentials: black blazer and pant, black or nude heels, white collar shirt, dark rinse jeans, dress, carry tote, and lovely necklace.

What type of beauty products do you use on a daily basis?

I can’t live without my Clarisonic face cleaner, Philosophy Purity, Carol’s Daughter Monoi repairing hair mask, Ambi skin care cream, and Crest toothpaste.

If someone calls you beautiful, how do you react? Accept the compliment or deny it?

Many years ago, I would deny it because my self confidence was low, but now I accept it and say thank you very much. I think as women our confidence builds as we age and experience life.

In your opinion, is there too much pressure for women to look a certain way?

Yes, there is too much pressure put on women to look young, fresh, and magazine ready at all times. Almost every commercial on television sends a message to women that with this product you can improve your life, skin, body,
teeth, or face and it’s non stop. Day in and day out from television, social media, magazines, radio; women are encouraged to look a certain way in order to become successful or to have the perfect family. We should not look to Madison Avenue or the next best face cream to feel good about ourselves. We should look inside first.

Do you have any additional comments or information you would like to share?

I enjoy speaking to young people about journalism. Plus, I always take opportunities to talk with girls, teens, and young ladies about life and career paths.
